If you’ve been job hunting for any length of time you’ve probably heard about the importance of networking. But, are you listening? More importantly, are you shutting off your computer, getting out of your jammies, and actually doing it? If the answer is an eyes-to-the-floor, shoulders hunched, “No, not yet”; it’s time to take a long, hard look at your current job search strategy and the results that you’ve been getting.

Occasionally a client will resist the suggestion that they give networking a much larger piece of the job search strategy pie. Maybe they’re uncomfortable in a networking situation or they feel that their current network is incredibly small. More often, clients have convinced themselves that they are networking; despite the fact that they’ve only spoken to two people and they rarely leave the comfort of their homes.
